What is the EU’s End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation, and why does it concern classic vehicle enthusiasts?

Commonly known as the End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation, the EU’s Circular Economy Regulation for Vehicles is currently under development. Its goal is to improve vehicle recycling and reduce the number of so-called “end-of-life vehicles”—cars that are no longer in use but still listed in vehicle registers.

Although the exact contents of the regulation are not yet finalized, and the draft is still in preparation, it has raised serious concern among enthusiasts. There is fear that the regulation may also apply to project cars and vehicles under restoration—vehicles that are not in active use but have significant cultural and historical value.

MEP Katri Kulmuni will explain the current stage of the regulation process, what kind of provisions may be expected, and how the voices of Finnish enthusiasts can be heard in the EU decision-making process.
