Pappatunturi moped, 1968 – Anne Ronkainen, Heinola

Once upon a time, there was a dark red 1968 Pappatunturi moped searching for a new owner in August 2022. It had a few issues: the fuel tap was leaking, the wheels had bearing problems, there were no brakes at all, and it definitely needed some cosmetic attention. However, at a summer event in Mäntsälä, it met a person who instantly fell in love with it—even though they didn’t know how to ride it yet. After a bit of negotiation, the Pappatunturi was purchased for €120 and transported in the back of a Hiace to Heinola, marking the start of a new chapter.

The moped was renamed HubbaPappa, its color changed to pink, and it was decorated with diamonds, glitter, and a scented air freshener—just like its tractor buddy HubbaBuba. It wasn’t restored to original condition but was customized according to the owner’s wishes. Jani Siltala spent a few hours getting HubbaPappa back in working order, and Anne Ronkainen, the owner, began honing her riding skills during her “forty-something craze.”

Since then, HubbaPappa has been part of the collection and has traveled around Finland to various events.
